Circumstance: Luis’ mom last saw her son as he left his sister’s house on March 6, 2010. Three days later, on March 9, 2010, his mom received a phone call from a man saying Luis was threatening to jump from the Bulkeley Bridge into the Connecticut River. On her end of the phone, his mom could hear struggles and the line went dead. The man that called Luis’ mom held Luis by the belt in an attempt to keep him from jumping but had to let go when he almost got pulled down with him. When Luis’ mother called back, her son had jumped. Authorities said Luis handed the kind stranger his wallet, cellphone, cell phone charger and glasses. A dive team searched for Luis but he was never found. Because Luis’ remains were never recovered, he is still considered a missing person.
